One time, a long time ago, I put up a postcard on the bulletin board at the firehouse announcing a gallery exhibition in New York City that was to include some of my artwork. One of the young firefighters looked at the image of my art and quickly exclaimed "My five-year-old sister could do this crap." Of course I lept at this opportunity to rather rudely explain art to this dim-wit (to no avail I'm sure.) As the years go by and the children grow, I retrospectively have come to realise that at least part, probably a large part, of the joy of creating my (non-representational) art is most certainly akin to the joy of a kindergartner finger-painting and certainly it is by no mistake that I purposefully try to obtain the ever-elusive spontaneity of pure creation of said kindergartner. Reckless creative abandon...
